To obtain a D2 Visa in Portugal, the following documents must be prepared:
- Passport or other travel document, valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of return.
- Two photos (size 4.5 × 3.5 cm).
- Self employment or company incorporation in Portugal
- Tax declaration or a certificate from the employer confirming taxes have been paid.( depending on consulate)
- Proof of sufficient funds to live in Portugal — a bank statement showing savings of at least 12 minimum wages. In 2025, this amount equals €10,440.
- Motivation letter in English, explaining the applicant’s occupation and reasons for relocating to Portugal.
- Tickets to Portugal for the approximate arrival date with the visa.
- Criminal record certificate with a Hague Apostille, translated into Portuguese. The certificate must be issued by the competent authority of the applicant’s country of nationality or the country where the applicant has resided for more than one year.
